What it the easiest way to find out which port no.(COM1, COM2, COM3 or COM4) am I using?

I am connecting a LCD hardware using USB-2-Serial conversion port. But I need to figure out which port am I using.

Since you mentioned USB-2-Serial conversion port, you can do a serial loopback test. It will display text only when it is connected to a specific port. All you need is a serial loopback port and follow the instructions from this link:

This is not the simplest way in the world but hey it works!

go to administrative toos in control panel then choose computer management, then select device manaager, drop down ports on right window....

You need to load the driver for the USB device first, then you will get an option to choose the USB port. Follow the installation directions from the hardware manufacturer. USB and COM ports are different ports and do not work when you select the wrong one.
